Mine has a heat option if you go to mode, 'temp autostart' and set it to heat. Maybe the actual APU is missing something. Kinda sucks, as the bunk heater gets insanely hot.. so I wake up at 1am, turn it down, open a window, toss the blankets off.. and then wake up at 3 freezing my tail off.
Oh well, at least I have heat, eh?

Y'all will be really happy that bunk heater is turbocharged about the time the ol' arctic vortex kicks in again.

My question is, does the bunk heater draw a lot on the batteries? I was sound asleep so I don't know if the apu was out for 5 minutes or 5 hours. Everything seemed fine, the truck started without any problems. Is it ok to have that on over night without the apu until I can get thru to a terminal or is that going to kill the batteries? -
Sounds like an alternator fault code... which means it isn't charging the batteries. Most likely you have a wiring issue... broken terminal lug. I run my bunk heater all night, frequently with the APU off. No issues running the batteries down too much... including using the tube, microwave, electric skillet. You should be OK. Remember (if you're reefer) you can always jump the truck off of the reefer... just fire it up in fuel hog/continuous for awhile.
A note for all you new guys... you must have jumper cables on board!Drac1985 and freemoneykev Thank this. -
You should know if it drains your batteries enough, my truck has an absurdly loud low voltage alarm that goes off at the dash and on the apu's control panel.. That was lovely when my APU died and I didn't want to idle all night.
Never got the memo on jumper cables... I've got enough required crap in here as it is. -
Cool, thanks IP.
