    Thanks FMJ...

what can you tell me about the "meal card" during orientation... does it need to be repaid? What about the $200 weekly advances... can I get that during all my psd and tnt training weeks?

I have been layed off since Oct. and would not be able to survive the training w/o the advance for meals, laundry, etc. until I go solo and earn mileage.

I understand that the lightweight trucks are rather small and compact... can anyone tell me how small and compact? can anyone share some pictures with me... I have claustrophobia in tight spaces and would just like to know what to expect.

What exactly makes them smaller and lightweight?

The $200/wk advances are during orientation and PSD, to be paid back at $25/wk when you start getting paid.

After you pass/get your full CDL and start TNT phase, you are considered officially employed, and will recieve the guaranteed $700/wk till you complete training and upgrade to your own truck. (Or, a set milage amount if over 3500mi in a week, think it's .14/mile.

As far as lightweights, I have to see if I can dig up "redoctober83" posts of pictures of his truck Iinterior. He's posted them several times. Got to see his truck in person, and was pretty impressed with what he had done. It wasn't near as bad as expected. You loose, I think, 18" of cab space behind the seats. Bunk comes up to just about seatbacks.

Smaller truck, less gross weight, so you carry more weight in the trailer than usual.

    Ya got's to get creative!

Not sure how to link previous posts.

Go to page 152 in thread "New to Prime - What to expect" to see his interior pics.

Never thought I would say it, but after seeing it in person, think I could deal with it. Set up pretty slick.

If you haven't read that thread yet, do start at beginning. Most info you need is in there, though pay has increased.

Oh, and meal card get's you three squares day while in orientation before going out with instructor for initial PSD.

The $200/wk is so you can feed yourself and take care of essentials when you get out on road. It is not there for paying bills. It's simply to get you by & survive. Prob won't take more than four weeks out to come back ready to test out, likely less.

    Thanks again FMJ.

I kinda figgured it wasnt for paying bills... not quite enough... lol

That is exactly what I needed to know... $200 lets you eat well and do laundry...

Closest terminal to Idaho is Salt Lake City, although your home terminal could still be SPRIMO. Honestly after I went solo it was 6 months before I ever made it back to Sprimo.

    He's got that right!

If your hanging a lot at a terminal, your not likely making much money.

Terminals in Springfield, MO: Salt Lake City, UT: and Pittston, PA.

Which terminal your based will be irrelevant as far as getting home for hometime.

Thanks FMJ for sharing that info.
Here is the link to my photos of my old lightweight truck. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/showthread.php?p=4260232
To be honest, there is more storage room in the lightweight then I now have in my full size condo. The only thing I would suggest is you either buy some curtains that you can hang up around the doors and windshield so you'll have privacy and a space to stand up and change clothes.
