Because of the lenght of time you have been idle, they may have you complete the whole process.
With a still valid CDL & amount of experience you have, they MAY just test you themselves in lue of the PSD phase & without the actual formal DOT testing. Example....put you through all the tests (pretrip, backing, road) just to see how you are for their own peace of mind, then on to TNT 40,000mi.
I am most certain you will, at a minimum, have to do the TNT (training) portion......just because of the length of time that has past since you have driven. They MAY adjust the length of that based on trainer & fleet manager's judgement of how you are doing. I would't count on that, as it's been so long....but ya never know. You can get pretty rusty just sitting out a month or two! In addition, this is when you learn particulars of how our company works, policies, paperwork, dispatch & road assist, etc........and so on, and so on...... As you well know, 10,000-40,000 "ain't nothin' " in a team situation, and miles are credited as combined team....not miles driven solely yourself.
As you are formerly from the industry, I am sure you understand that they need to be 100% confident in your ability to be safe, timely, & entrust that much $$ in equipment & freight to you. You know the deal well, I'm sure.
Give 'em a call. They should be able to detail this all out for you. Coming from that much experience, would think they would love to talk to you!
PEACE

Best to ya!
You can certainly do worse than Prime & it has been a great experience for me.
They are a great starter company with some of the best starting rates. Even pretty decent from running on the O/O side that I am on. And, we have a lot of folks that have been here for years, both company, L/O, & O/O. Pretty good company to be hooked up with & take care of us well. So, they must be doing something right.
Just be sure to not to take much credence in third hand BS that is thrown around about Prime, or the one's #####ing that couldn't cut it. No personal responsibility in the world anymore. Talk to some of us actually here that can provide you first hand experience of both the good and bad.
That said........with your experience, I would definately be checking out all your options. That's a heck of o lot of experience, no matter how long ago. I would think you would be in high demand nearly anywhere, if you have a decent past history.
Best to ya, brother if you decide to get back out.. Lord knows we could use more guys with actual experience out here! LOL
PEACE

I looked at Prime years ago, don't really remember why I did not go there though. I have had my eyes on Freymiller, and they refered me to Prime, because I drove for them for 5 years back in the 90's. They were a great bunch to work for.
Came off the road to raise my kids, changed career's to do that. I have been contracting cable for going on 15 years, the last 4 in management, installing is a young mans game, now I am ready to get back to trailer truckin. From all my research I can tell it has changed a lot, there is a lot more technology today that I think is an advantage and a lot of useful tools we did not have back then.
No doubt that I am rusty, although I think after several thousand miles I could beat that rust off. We also see a lot of Prime trucks here where I live too, so that tells me this is a significant freight lane for Prime, should not have any problems getting by the house. Tomorrow is my one day off, I will call them.hal380 and Chucktshoes Thank this. -
Charlotte/Monroe is a somewhat popular spot for flatbeds, with Charlotte Pipe being a secure place you can leave a trailer. for home time. No clue about reefers though.

Right there with ya on the old age bit.
And WHAT......? You actually have a day off? What luxury! LOL
Worked at a truck stop back in college 30+ yrs ago, and did some runs with some guys. Loved it & wanted to go for it.. But, a government job presented itself that I could not turn down. Retired & decided to give a go at what I always wanted to do. Man, kicking myself everyday that I didn't go this route 30yrs ago! I live it, and I love it. Cannot imagine myself doing anything else now.
Yep........lot's of changes. Tons of technology, some good, some ??? But, also a lot more regulations & pains in the arse since you were out here. Nothing unmanageable, though. Just gots to roll with it.
Give 'em a call, along with some others to see what might be the best fit. Sure your experience will draw some attention.
PEACE

FullMetalJacket. I called and spoke to Bud today, he directed me to the company website for an application. I knew I had considered Prime at one time, I did not know they kept applications on file so long, and I did apply back in 1997, so he had all the information to that date. I think I applied to Prime and CRE at the same time back then.
123456 and FullMetalJacket Thank this. -
Wow.....applied 18yrs ago?
Man, that is the absolute longest I have ever heard of someone waiting for an approval!
Applied 18yrs ago......? !!
