Just be super ####ing careful. Prime likes to get the miles out of their trainees and then drop them like a bad habit. Don't make any mistakes and don't let them add miles unless you mess up. They will try.

Does Prime have a BMI limit for drivers? Most sources I have checked have said that if you're >39 then you have to get a sleep apnea test, but at least one source said that Prime won't even hire drivers >39. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

Prime does, you'll have to do a sleep study to determine if you have sleep apena or not. It goes off variety of different factors but Bmi. Is the main one that and neck size.

Call a recruiter they'll be able to tell you.

I'm not saying you're not telling the truth but the only time I've known prime to make a trainee do more miles before upgrading is either they had a safety incident or require further training.

It makes no sense to make them do more miles when it needed as prime would make more money from them when they are running freight solo.

Only time PRIME "drops them like a bad habit" which they don't by the way is when the student is either incapable of passing their tests after several times of trying. Fail drug tests/background, lies, shows no concern for publics safety or follow safety polices.

I got a ticket in Montana for failure to yield right of way after a lady rear ended our trailer during a blizzard as we turned into a rest stop. 10,000 miles added. I was cool with that, even if I was confused and a bit upset about getting the ticket when we were rear ended.

Got done with 40,000 miles instead of 30, get to Springfield, take all my stuff out of trainers truck, fleet manager says I need to do another 10,000 because they have no trucks available. Trainer is pissed, I'm not happy, but again we go out.

Get done with 50,000 miles headed back to Springfield. Fleet manager calls and says trainer is gonna drive me home and drop me off, I'm done. No more job.

All this after the fleet manager previously praised me, my trainer writes me a glowing letter of rec even though he went in the hole because we weren't getting any miles, and I never got a full paycheck the entire time. Guaranteed $600 a week my ###.

So yes, they do pull some shady just like any other company. All I was saying was to keep your eyes open and if it feels wrong, it probably is.

That seems like complete and total B.S. on the part of Prime for doing that. Did you ever get any explanation whatsoever to why you never ended up being able to go solo with them?

Do you mean after they get their CDL while in TNT training or before hand? If you mean after while doing TNT do they try to stick you with the cost of training?

If you don't finish training they are supposed to get their money back from you. They tell you that when they slap the contract down and tell you to sign it. They haven't come after me yet, so not sure.

Well "don't finish training" can be 2 very different things. It can be you got your CDL permit but couldn't pass the CDL tests.. or it could be you obtained your CDL but didn't pass the TNT training making you not employable by them, for whatever reason.

It's one of the things I was thinking about which I'll be sure to ask about before signing anything. I know the previous paper work I read stated you had 2 weeks once you started training to back out with out owing anything. I just wonder if they count the orientation week as part of those 2 weeks..

I'd guess they deal with so many new drivers it's a numbers game for them. I'd suspect that drivers who make it to TNT and don't go on from there are relatively low so maybe it's a acceptable loss on their side on a case by case basis. (like if it was obvious you just used them to get a CDL and then purposely failed the other training, they'd likely go after you)

It would probably be better for them not to go after the limited few that fall through that crack rather than just having 1 person out there on youtube telling the world they did their training and prime wouldn't hire them and now they owe them money. That would be bad PR, so maybe they look at it like that.

Either way, seems like you made it on with another company so just a small set back.
