Both... we have a large dedicated freight base, and pickup profitable freight on the spot market.
Lady trucker, I'm assuming? We just don't have enough women drivers who are willing to train. That's the main reason Prime doesn't take female students. Too many issues (both ways it turns out) when men are paired with female students. Personally I think its a very unfortunate situation.
Oh yeah... they're very good at looking where you've been. The main reason folks are sent home from orientation is omissions from their personal histories of one nature or another. If you're going to apply, be painfully honest about your background, and don't try to hide anything. If there's something lurking out there that is embarassing or you think may keep you from being employed, its much better to be very up front about it with the recruiters - it may be nothing, except to you.

Thanks so much for the quick reply IP, I left that off my online App. Seeing that is was over 25 years ago and I got out early because I was young and dumb and told a Drill Sergeant what I was going to do to him if he didn't get out of my face.
I did however get out with an Honorable Discharge because of some favor. I have been self employed for the last 25 years and never had to reveal what a dumb butt I was back then. Do you think If I call them back and let them know that I left this off the online App that they would still consider my App? everything else is clean as it can be. Thanks again.Last edited: Sep 17, 2010

Thanks optimus, for taking the time to answer this for me. I have read just about every thing written on this forum about prime the good, bad, and ugly, and I am really excited to find what I believe will be an excellent company that I could stay with right out of the gate. Best to everyone for your help!

Thanks lilrobby, Can any of the Prime drivers give me an idea how many miles a week that you actually get during the slow months of the year between mid Jan- late May? If I were to start training in October, it would probably be about Jan when I would be in my own truck, according to the training schedule.
I heard that Solos are running about 2700 miles weekly on average now, and that they usually lose about 500 miles per week during that time of the year? Thanks for the great info. -

Its a little more variable after Xmas... 2500-ish might be a good AVERAGE during the slow period. You're going to have 3000- mile weeks as well as 2200-mile weeks. Ya know, last year it really didn't tail-off that badly for us.
