Got a shipper that I am at question with.

Contacted a shipper that has 20 loads moved across Richmond. Shipper said I'll give you 5 of them(I didn't ask for 5) and said will see how this goes because things come up. Breakdowns and so on.
I get 4 out of 5 done($200 each) and I said I can't get the last one because I need to go to the dentist.
Shipper replys "let me know if you can't get it because I'll find another carrier that will keep find other carriers who actually make our loads a priority to grab them."

How would you handle that last load?

I would have skipped the dentist. Freight has to go. Especially if it is a potentially good customer. I would have fired you.

Not a good customer. I didn't ask for 5. Skip the dentist? Can't fire me I'm self employed. And later that day the shipper was paying over $500 to other carriers.
A good deal to finish or just forget about them?

You did not go that in depth, I would say screw them. And I know that you are an owner op...

Nice to know you still have teeth too... ;-)

Can you hold my beer? LOL!

Did you have a dentist appointment or did you have a dental emergency?
How much time are we talking to accomplish each load? Kinda sounds like you're hustling very hard for little gain.

Ruthless, 6wheeler and 86scotty Thank this.

It takes about 1.5 hours to load and unload. I don't have either one I just don't want to do any more.

I think I would have completed all five and renegotiated before doing any more.

So the shipper told you to do 5 loads and you didn't object? What kind of feed back are you expecting out of this?

gokiddogo, Ruthless and 6wheeler Thank this.

If you already agreed to 5 (I know you said you didn't ask for 5, but may have agreed before starting the other 4) I would at least complete what I agreed to do regardless.

After this? I'd let them go. Sometimes you need to fire a customer who doesn't value the service you offer.
