I think I saw them at a Radio Shack, don't you have to sign up for AT&T though? I'm with T-Mobile, so that wouldn't work for me.

Radio Shack is giving the netbooks for the $50.00 with wireless broadband contract. Not bad if you want to surf the net, email home, etc. If you want to use it to watch movies while in the bunk you'll need to buy an external DVD-ROM or DVD-rw drive. The plus side is that it's small enough to take up little space and will probably run gps programs for you!

I'd be scared they do to their computers like they do their phones, limiting features and such.

does it come with windows or linux?

they have several models, I'm not sure which one is the $50 deal.

Looks like the two cheapest netbooks have XP on them. The dell only has an 8 gig hard drive, while the acer has a 160 gig.

the 8 gig one must have one of them new Flash drives, as for on a truck, you won't have to worry about it dying from vibration. you could probably drop them a good distance too and have them survive... don't try dropping a regular diskdrive..

Now verizon has a wireless hotspot available. Get yourself a cheap laptop with wireless card and the wireless wifi and you have internet everywhere you go for less. they're offering 3months free internet and if you order online, the modem is free. $39.99 a month for the internet.:biggrin_25519:

The $39.99 plan is for 250 megabytes. That's it. To put that in perspective, that's 20 minutes of youtube videos. I use more than that with my phone.
