75,000 or 35,000 gross, doesn't matter. If you get blown over, getting cited for “Light, High-Profile Vehicles” will be the least of you worries.

That’s a separate issue. To say that you will be cited for “Light, High-Profile Vehicles” if a strong gust of wind rolls you over on a 75k gross conventional truck and trailer is taking it too far. I wouldn’t be surprised if WY would try to cite me for it, but again, they’ll have to hear from my lawyers.

    Stubborn aintcha?

I like it. Maybe have a 79999 pound vehicle thump onto wyoming's ### and they cite for light high profile etc.

    Supreme court here we come.

So I’m supposed to just sit there and be like, “Sure, WY, cite me for getting rolled over by a strong gust of wind on a 75k conventional truck and trailer. Nope. I will fight it for a very simple reason: the “Light, High-Profile Vehicles” doesn’t apply here. If it really did, all conventional 53’ trucks and trailers would be stopped at sight.

When 80 was closed we’d run up 287 to Laramie. Pull into the port with an empty cattle trailer, they’d ask if I was going to run 30, then they’d say be careful. If the temperature was above freezing a lot of us would stop and put about a foot of water down in the belly for some extra weight.

huh. And I thought none knew that little trick.

Once in a blue moon when it's icy and cold I ask for the hose. Manager rolls his eyes REALLY HARD and say here take it don't bother me you crazy driver.

Hose down the trailer instantly extra weight by the ton under there.

I remember my first time through Wyoming they had a specific weight to shutdown if you were under. Think 30k. Like the sign read "closed to high profile vehicles under 30k lbs" or something. Luckily I was 43k. Even then there was a certain spot I really felt the wind.

They must have removed the specific weight because it’s a bit more complicated than that. The stability has more to do with the amount of pound per inch (lb./inch) on the tire width.

Back in the day the signs would say high profile vehicles under xx,xxx prohibited. A few years ago is when it got vague.
