Saw this earlier and thought it was amusing. Never been a fan of the ATA.http://www.truckersnews.com/fmcsas-new-app-draws-fire-from-trade-association/Guess those lobbying dollars might have paid offhttp://www.truckersnews.com/bill-would-remove-carrier-rankings-from-view-on-csa-website/

I have exactly ZERO use for the ATA or anything it promotes
-
ATA: Promoting speed limiters, EOBRs, etc. #### the ATA. Use your imagination for the blanked out word. By the way, The England family (CR England) is on the board. That should tell you something.
Rollin'Coal and Joetro Thank this. -
Download app. See who is near the bottom. Find one of their trucks. Cause him/her to hit you. Instant lottery winnings!
Shoot. The driver is guilty before the cops show up. Right?
The general public should not be allowed that information. Just my opinion. -
So companies may have to improve themselves to not be on the bottom of that list, sounds good to me.
Rollin'Coal Thanks this. -
No matter how good the industry becomes, there will ALWAYS be someone at the bottom of that list. And there will ALWAYS be those out there trying to make millions off a frivolous lawsuit. Why make it easy for them with a free cell phone app? I don't have a problem with law enforcement having an easier way to get the info. I just don't feel its a good thing for the general public to have access to. I know it's all "public information". But make them work for it.
-
I am looking at the download numbers right now, I guarantee 99% of the downloads are from truckers or those in the industry. There's dash cams, they can install blind spot cams, etc which immediately show foul play and alleviate all responsibility from the driver/carrier so it's a moot point. It needs to be public so when I am looking at a company to work for I can see if they're worth my time or not. Nice to know if I am employing a company to haul my freight the chances of it making it there in one piece as well.
-
That's the thing, it >IS< public information. And if you don't know what kind of company is pulling your freight, YOU are not taking advantage of the information that is already there. Is that because it doesn't matter enough to take ten minutes (or way less if you use bookmarks in your browser) to find the information? Then why bother with an app at all? Employer wont let you take ten minutes to find the information? Then it isn't important enough to them. Just don't feel like looking it up? A few mouse clicks and typing on a keyboard seems faster and easier to me than grabbing the phone, oh I have a text, reply, oh! facebook notifications! oh yeah! I was doing something, open app, type with those little buttons, submit, wait 30 seconds, oops, fat fingered the name, .......................
Regardless, this is getting way off topic. Done here. -
I unlocked my phone, tapped the app icon and ready to search in mere seconds, much better than dragging around a laptop or notebook, firing it up, firing up a browser, typing in an address or scrolling through bookmarks, then clicking on link, then waiting for page to load, then typing in carrier/MC #, waiting for it to load, then finally getting the info I want.
Yup. App is much faster and efficient. I'll stick with the app.
