No, but if you live in the Bensalem area, have you considered Calex out of Pittston? Check out the threads!

I've been curious about AFL also. My girlfriend lives 10 minutes from their terminal.
I suspect they do primarily regional stuff. I've seen them a lot in NJ and once in a while in the New England states. I never see them anywhere else other than within 300-400 miles from Bensalem. -
i have an interview and road test with them on monday, i was hoping i could get some feed back on miles per week and how their equipment is. oh and also how and why a small family owned truckload carrier is unionized.
-
i'm sorry i can't offer any info on Atkinson. However, they are definitely on my watch list as potential matches for me---mainly due to the fact they they are union!
From what i've seen--trucks on the road and their website, they look/seem like a winner.
The only "drawback" to me is that they only run northeast generally and i want to run all 48, even canada. But i could still be happy running only northeast---it's what i do now. But i would just be even happier running all 48 and canada, not only because i like running out west occasionally, but also because i think it's easier to get more miles that way. -
why wouldn't they be, they are an older company in the northeast with drivers who get regular home time and see each other often. doesn't get much easier to organize than that, and they have been around since the days of EVERY truckload carrier being organized. They have been the only drivers to be able to hold onto their truckload contract, and they get paid well for still being union. They don't haul cheap freight from what i understand, and sort of crossover into ltl as well, taking multiple stops on the same trailer and lumping their own loads, it seems.
I talked to one of their drivers a few months ago, he has 25 years in and said he loves it, and wouldn't want to work anywhere else. I tried getting on with them, but they don't run out to buffalo enough anymore to get me home.
If you can get on with them, I would take it, it sounds like a GREAT job, as long as you can handle the northeast constantly. -

Bensalem travel plaza is still operating, same family separate company. There was an article in land line magazine on Saturday about it, a google search will turn it up. I have been parking my truck in the back lot there for the last couple of years. Here is the link to the article.
