    Hi,

I am a student working on a paper involving ATM fees and truckers.

How much do you pay on average for ATM transactions? Does that include the fee charged by your bank as well?

I am also wondering about cash discounts for fuel. So far I am seeing 6 cents a gallon at Flying J, but can find no other information on cash discounts.

Also if you do buy fuel with cash, do you obtain that cash from ATM's? If so is there a maximum withdrawal amount per machine/per day and is that sufficient to cover your fuel costs? If not, what other methods besides cash do you use to pay for fuel?

I would also be interested in knowing how critical ATM access is to you and how ATM fees impact your business.

Thanks for any help and insight you can provide.

I try to stay away from ATMs that charge fees. But if I do have to use one the fees are usually around the $2-3 range with no charge from my bank (we have totally free checking and savings). There are a few chain stores that don't charge fees and these are the ones I use (Kwik Trips in the Wisconsin area are the first that come to mind).

As for the cash discounts...I use a Comdata card currently and am in the process of switching to FleetOne which they both give me the cash price. Carrying or even using ATMs for fuel can be a major liability and inconvience. Most banks limit the amount of money that can be spent and/or withdrawn from a accoutn in a day, so there is a good chance that a person couldn't withdrawl enough from the ATM to pay for the fuel (even if multiple withdralws were used).

    Hope this helps.
