I am so very thankful that my boyfriend has found the company that he has. They keep him rolling and are very family oriented. As we all know, come Thanksgiving through February, freight sometimes is slow. In December, it was really slow for him. It got to a point where we almost couldn't make the bills. His boss point blank told him to figure up what we needed to get through and he would personally take care of it. I have not heard of any other company who hires people like his boss.

To those who are having a hard time, just remember---we are never given more than we can handle, even if it feels like we are at wits' end.

hello, all. I am new here and looking at RDTC (Marshfield, WI). I have seen the DAC acronym now several times and would like to know what it means. Also, is RDTC as bad as every other CDL mill. Or is Roehl a decent company to work for. I have not signed anything as of yet and am looking into other options before joining RDTC.

If it absolutely must be destroyed overnight, call The Marines.

If it absolutely must be delivered overnight, call My Man (a Marine). He gets it done. :yes2557::biggrin_25525::biggrin_255: Yeah Buddy!!!

Yeah, it wouldn't take me long. Especially when you've been out for 2 weeks and you sat 6 days total!

Depends on the driver, all the CDL mills are doing is filling the seats. They loose on average five experianced drivers a week. They also loose just about as many dispatchers. Recruiters have turned the barrel over and are digging under rocks looking for anyone to fill those seats. Claims that there are enough drivers and freight is slow is really not the case. It is a control issue with upper management, a problem with budgets, and the owners new private jet and yacht. If you are new and getting ripped off for training and driving for those pennies per mile then chances are you are running hard without rest. The experienced drivers making more pennies per mile are forced to comply with NYC and N.E. routes. I understand that some trainees are also running East Coast and driving 16 plus hours just to make their daily miles and pennies. Drivers who refuse to dance will be terminated because the upper management might not get their bonus at the end of the year. EVEN THOUGH ALMOST 10,000 deaths from big trucks last year; things will not change. It is kind of like drinking and driving, can you dance until someone dies? Depends on the driver, and if you follow the letter of the law, (DOT) expect to be terminated at least once a year. Your DAC report can roll down the street with bad reports of terminations and you can be black listed, but look around you at orientation and at those new recruits. About half of them are on Parole; and the reason they charge you for drug tests is because over half in orientation fail that test. Your DAC and the companies STAA is about control. So, when breakdown tells you to steal parts off another companies trailer because of budgets, claiming you will not make any money if you refuse, just laugh and think about the yacht club.

I believe that is your opinion and not based in fact.
If you can produce the data supporting your opinion,
    I would appreciate it.

If you are looking for a company that doesn't make you drive tired or out of hours, Roehl is a good choice. They can say what they want, but they really don't care about their drivers, they care about their safety record. If time at home is important then you need to get into the 7/4-7/3 fleet. Slip seating is a pain, but you know when to expect to be home. Many if not most of the large companies that hire newbies will make you run illegal and do a lot of creative log booking, I haven't had that problem with Roehl. The one thing I will say for Roehl is that if you let them know you are running out of hours and a delivery needs to be rescheduled they do it. Most of my runs have plenty of time, I usually deliver asap and so many times I am delivering a day early.

If you find a company that truly puts drivers first, let me know so I can switch. The problem I have found is that the owners of these companies are clueless about what drivers need to be satisfied.

you think they are getting ideas so they can make there company better? Eh Just a thought. Most companies are about the same any more. Theres good and bad in every industry. What works for one person at a company may not work for another. We are all different that's what makes us unique. Coprate philosphys have changed because of the economic times we live in. Not nescerarly for the better. The things that Companys need to remember we do need customers to have freight to make money. But lets not forget the most important part of the equation the DRIVER without us you cant service your customer therefore you are messing up the bottom line. Drivers have a simple thought process 1 Get us loaded 2 pay what is right 3 get us home in a decent and timely fashion. One hand Washes the other. You take care of the driver they take care of you and your customers. Simple process.
A lot of the time corperate america makes life harder than it realy needs to be.
common sense and smart business goes along way.
For anyone from companys that may read this i welcome any comments from you guys. Wanna pick my brain? Have at it. If i can help companys become better im all for it.
In closing i wanna say this. Untill we get back to basics we are going to continue to have driver shortages and driver issues. Be open to your drivers you would be surprised and what you will learn.
I hope there are companys reading my last post.
