I used to work as a security guard part time and full time, and while in college. Most of the sites were trucking based locations. My observations are that union shops are very stable places to work compared to non-union shops. People at union shops are happy and know each other very well. Non-union shops have high turnover and people are scared of management. Of course I have seen union shops where people sit around and dont work and complain. But most places are well run and people stay year after year working for them. As a security guard I feel better and safer working in a union shop too. Usually in a non-union shop its management verses workers with management always being right. Union shops its more about the people working there and creating a fair work envirionment. So as a security officer in a non-union shop, you are often part of management, but in a union shop, you are often the buffer between management and the union. You would figure that it was the opposite, but its not from my experience.

No, I do not work for the NYPD. I merely gave an example of a union job. That was all. Like I said, we have a first world economy with third world labor. Isn't this america? Why would people live in fear at work. Some users here talk against the unions. I respect their point of view. Everyone has a opinion and if they want to express themselves. I'm okay with that.

At present I have my cdl permit. At my present job if I want to drive trucks I could. The opportunity is there if I decide to go that route. Trust me, I don't have to work for .22 cpm or .26 cp, or even .33 cpm. My take home pay is not going to be $250.00. I'm not boasting or bragging. Just I wonder why people allow themselves to be taken advantage of.

That's what Ive been trying to say all along. Union shop protect their workers and worker's right. Can you imagine working in a place with sexual harrassment and office abuse running rampant? If you speak up against it. Say Goodbye! I know I couldn't work there. Check this out.. How about working and you have no health benefits, and pension plan. What then?
Truckers are worth their weight in gold, yet allow themselves to be taken advantage of. I understand, we all have to work for our living. But what do you have planned 20 - 25 years from now?

    Okay. I got ya.

Well, I'm going to Prime next month... I will be making $600/week or $.12/mile (whichever is more... running team) during training, $.30/mile after that for the first 20,000 miles solo, and then $.34/mile after that... and the miles in the Company Reefer division have been pretty strong lately...

That's alot more than I can make in S.W. Missouri in any other job that I can get... so that's good for me. I can see where if you live in NY, you can make more money doing something else because wages are alot higher there... of course, so is cost of living.

    david07003 Thanks this.

I don't think C R England reads this or they might realize how poorly they treat their IC's and trainers.

Considering that drivers must first pass armed guards and pass through a metal detector, just to see their dispatcher, I'd be inclined to think they know, ........ whether they read this --- or not.

    Why should they care?
In spite of what's written here, or anywhere, they're still doin' it.
And folks still keep signing on..................................................for more of the same.
    Why fix what ain't broke?

If what's written wasn't, mostly, true, it would be easy to stop the presses.
But that would involve the courts, ....... and publicity I'd think they'd prefer to avoid. :biggrin_25524::yes2557:

Most of these so called good companies paint a good picture and suck you in, About 95 % of them could'nt tell the truth if they had too, and for these idioys out here that just set on thier a@# and say, thats just trucking are the ones who let these companies and shpr/ rec get away with pushing you around. Myself i dont stand for it and when i catch them in alie, i call them out on it. I dont play thier games and let them blow smoke up my a@#. I have a thing called self respect and a lot of pride in what i do, and i refuse to let anyone talk down to me as if im there lil sh%thead and stand there and take, Bust thier a@# and go to jail if i need too, its not the first or will it be the last.
