Well the rule of thumb is, Canadian companies are the worst, and typically scam and abuse their drivers worse than anyone else. While I'm sure it happens in the US also, its pretty much what the Canadian trucking industry is known for.
As far as Scottlynn, my understanding (someone please correct me if i'm off here) is that they purchased some farms/the logistics company in Florida, after they were already well established in Canada; and re-branded it. Thus this is why it seems to operate quite differently from the Canadian side of things. Either way, if I was a US driver, I would prob work for 20 other reefer companies before going to work for Scottlynn.
Attention drivers (Scottlynn commodity Ontario Canada)

It's a goods and services tax that goes hand in hand with our sales tax in Canada. Many provinces tried to hide it by combining it into what is now called a harmonized sales tax
-
These are averages for reefer rates right now. Many companies and o/o with their own authority in the US are getting much higher than this. Sorry this is happening to you and others as well. I know first hand.

$1.49 Canadian is only about $1.05 US. per mile.
Well below the US average. -
Ove been told dry van is doing 3.oo u.s a mile?
Dry van in Canada lucky to to 1.8 which is roughly 1.35 CDNBigHossVolvo Thanks this. -
Yea, I'm not sure about independents, but I know leased on O/O's at the majority of companies here in Canada, Today, are making $90-$1.05/mi NET in Tandem Van CAN/US and about $0.75-$0.82c/mi NET Canada only.
ABL we were making $1.30-$1.45/mi NET power only CAN/US 2019/2020 Tandem Reefer, that dropped sharply to about $0.95-$1.10/mi NET in 2021, which is one of the reasons I quit to go LCV. -
That after fuel and insurance etc etc....
-
Yes, those are the NET numbers paid out, after all deductions from the company are taken off. Does not include truck payments/maintenance of course.Another Canadian driver and MSQUARED Thank this.
-
Hoss, does the 1.05 include fuel or come out of the 1.05?
The thing is, if you got the truck through a non profit organization ,it doesn't matter if it's profitable or not.
The driver has nothing invested.
The community looks after living expenses.
There is only a common good. It's a different way of life. -
All deductions including fuel are taken out, and the NET profit paid to the truck is $0.90-$1.05/mi.
Exactly, there is no way to compete with "The Temple"Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
