How is everyone doing? Well it’s time for me to make that move and become an Owner Operator! My issue is I can’t figure out which lane suits me and my family! Married with 6 yr old son, been home with them every night! Can anyone give me pointers on Company’s with good home time and consistent loads! Have, Tanker’s, triples, Hazmat and good driving record! 5 yrs experience, and I will do just about any kind of work! Will be purchasing my truck next month or March! Please any and all help will be very appreciated!
Attention Houston and Surrounding Area ! My time has expired as a Company Driver!

Lots of intermodal and tanker work there. Whether it meets your needs really depends on your truck payments.
Lanes are top secretAnd most aren’t sharing if they have a gravy run. Those, you have to build on your own.

Only 48 possibilities....... this could take awhile to guess what state you might be from.

Figure out what you're going to do where you're going to run before you buy the truck
Quick example
If you go buy a nice highway truck then end up beating it to hell doing intermodal that won't have been a wise move. Or if you buy a beater to do intermodal then end up doing a lane where you're gone for 5 home for 2 that will probably be one miserable time when working.bredforgame and Grumppy Thank this. -
Its Houston tons of Freight local , regional and otr . Houston ,Dallas , Laredo ,San Antonio. You can do the Tx triangle and run every day , find what works for you .

Are you looking to become an O/O to be home more with your family? With 5 years experience I would suggest maybe hiring on with a local petroleum carrier as a company driver first if you are not already in that field. Do that for awhile and talk with owner operators doing the same and see how they are making out money wise and go from there. That's probably one of the better gigs for a family guy.

I was thinking LTL. Most guys do LTL, when they want to see their families

Im already LTL, do a little line haul also.

Houston to San Antonio and back. With detour to Laredo if nothing is available in SA.
That’s what one of our guys does. But you’re going to have to find a lane that works for you. And it could be very fluid.
It sounds like you’re doing okay where you are. Even if you’re unhappy with the actual job.
But you’re painting yourself into a box with a truck purchase. Especially if you have payments. That alone could disrupt even the best of plans. The bank won’t care if you’re home every night and on weekends. They just want their money.77fib77 Thanks this.
