Was sitting at one of the picnic tables at the Petro, Kenly NC. A 30 yr old black gentleman from NYC joined me and we chatted. He drove one of the straight trucks with a sleeper. Suddenly, he said, “I HATE THAT STUFF!”
What stuff?
“That truck has a rebel flag on the hood.”
What does that mean?
“You know what that means….racist.”
(I watch the truck park. After a minute, a younger black Man, mid twenties, starts walking for the driver’s door. I wave him over)
You know that truck with the rebel flag? There’s the driver.
(Jaw dropped, mouth opened wide like a Venus fly trap catching flies)
Hey, like the truck. Owner op?
‘Yessir!’
Where are you from?
‘LA’ (in the south, that’s Lower Alabama. He sits at our table and we talk. NYC is still reeling, so he sits quietly and observes…a sign of wisdom as he could have easily started making accusations. Finally he rejoins the conversation.)
“Why do you have a rebel flag on the front of your truck?”
‘I am from the south. That’s what we do.’

(An older black guy is hovering nearby. I could tell that he wanted to join us. Late 70, early 80s, dressed to the 9s, definitely not a trucker. I invite him to join us)

“On my way back to NY from SanfordFL. Went down there with Al Sharpton because of Trayvon Martin. I am a rabble rouser. I have never done a hard day’s work in my life.

So when some black person that fits your narrative gets killed, you and your people come in and get all the black people in the area riles up and convince them to go burn their own neighborhood, then you leave? You are the biggest POS I think I have ever met in my life.

(Shock) Old Turd jumped up angrily and we had words, but as usual people who have never done hard work aren’t going to be tough. Anyway, racism is the narrative that’s sold to black people. It’s like Lifetime TV, 24 hour murderdeathkill abusive man, burning bed channel for women. Not saying there isn’t racism, just that it’s the only narrative they get.

 

Historically it is a traitor flag.

 

Historically, it’s not the confederate flag, but the Virginia battle flag. The confederate flag is completely different.

 

Adopted as the Confederate Battle flag. Ask anybody about the flag it's the Confederate flag. Not the Virginia Battle Flag.

 

But being in a country illegal and waving your home countries flag is ok.

 

It's not the flag of a traitor faction trying to overthrow the US Government for the express purpose of keeping slavery.
