I'm sure this has been asked but I can't find what I'm looking for, I am getting ready for my new entrance audit, I have everything in order except the maintenance file. I'm a little confused by what exactly they are looking for or what it should be organized like. Any help would be great. thanks.

Check http://www.worktruckonline.com/chan...y/2009/06/how-to-prepare-for-a-dot-audit.aspx. Page 3 has the information on the vehicle maintenance file.

You should be doing a monthly maintenance report for anything done to the truck PMs, parts, tire repair, ect..... On the front of my file I have year make model tire size and when I perform maintenance intervals. I make a copy of every receipt right the mileage down on it and fill a report out at the end of the month.....this could also save your rear incase your ever involved in a major accident!!!

Thanks! I keep a file of work done to the equipment, along with scheduled PM intervals. I wanted some input as to what they are looking for specifically during the audit. It's the government, if I say left they say right and I just want to do the right thing. Thanks for the feed back.
