I recently bought a truck and side dump and was wondering if I needed to get authority. I’ve gotten a DOT number, insurance, heavy road use tax etc. I don’t think I have to report or get an IFTA sticker since I stay in my state since I’m under 21. I am also looking for work and trying to get my name out. I can haul rock, manure or other materials. I have a high capacity side dump so I can haul lighter weight material. I am located in north central Iowa. Thank you
Authority and IFTA?

Don't quote me like this but I believe you'll need intrastate operating authority, yes.
Combination plates - no ifta
Apportioned plates - ifta -
You don't need IFTA if you run inside your state, some states (most ?) require you to have a US-DOT number (intrastate indicated on your MCS-150) as well as YOUR STATE DOT number and your truck must register with combination plate. You can still go to other states but you must get a trip-permit for each state you intend to go through. Also the insurance liability requirement for intrastate is lower, in Texas only $500k vs 1mil required by FMCSA for interstate operation.

I believe you're right. Intrastate authority yes, interstate, MC, no.

I specifically stated "don't quote me".
