Why the #### do we need CAN communication with a ####ing tail light? Just wire the dang thing to a switch like we've done with zero issues the last hundred years.
Automakers wonder why their trucks aren’t selling??..it’s obvious

One looks at what has happened in the automotive industry in a few decades.
One will see the cost of vehicles price gone to insane heights, But why?
The amount copper wiring used and massive computerized components
used in these vehicles have increased so much to a insane usage.
From a simple basic reliable vehicle made now into a complete over priced junk.
More companies are trying to replace a regular metal part that use to last for
about 10 years or more with plastic parts that fail in only a few years.
A vehicles reliable was at one time the biggest thing to sell a vehicle in the industry.
Now it seems now a days it, to be selling point to sell vehicles with more wiring and
electronic crap in a vehicle you truly do not need.
Unfortunately the money wasted in electronic junk has now put cost so high that the
vehicles manufacturers have made cost cutting on a old school reliable engine and
replaced them to a more very poorly made and very unreliable motors and transmissions
that barely lasts just a few years and died even before the warranty expires, if you are lucky.
The vehicles manufacturers need to go back to old school and back basics.
Take the plastic, electronic crap and wiring off the motors that is not needed.
No one needs 1000 sensors on any engine or in transmissions.
You want an electronic entertainment system in the vehicle, OK, but keep simple and
out of the wiring and functions of the motors and transmissions system.
I would say more then 1/2 of the wiring in a modern vehicle is completely not needed.
Even less wiring is needed when a vehicle can use new fiber optic cables.
Cut the cost off the manufacturing process that is not needed.
The vehicle manufacturing industry must start putting the money back in to making
a very highly reliable motors and transmissions that last for decades with few problems.
More stronger and highly fuel efficient engines are a must in the future.
Horse power is not as important as torque and fuel efficiency.Gearjammin' Penguin, TheLoadOut and mjd4277 Thank this. -
what’s gonna happen in a few years when you can’t get that module for the fricking tail light ?
yoire gonna have an entire vehicle that is now scrap metal junk because of a tail light .
And that’s EXACTLY what the fedgov and the auto Manufacturers want .
that forces you to buy another new one .
no wonder the insurance is getting so expensive , what used to be a $150 tail light is now $6k
what If you had backed into a post with one of these tail lights ?
Now your vehicle is undrivable .
I simply refuse to participate in this asinine activity.
I can tell
You exactly what’s going to happen with the computer stuff
I own
A scissor boom lift that the computer died .
The manufacturer is still in buy but has abandoned this model of computer , and no replacement is available
I was able to install a bunch of relays and switches and get it to work manually without the computer but this is the fate of anyone who buys a new car with all this garbage on it .
When my current 06 Expedition dies , its replacement is gonna be the nicest 88-96 suburban I can find .EHB, Gearjammin' Penguin, TheLoadOut and 1 other person Thank this. -

I'm seeing all the local dealer lots are full and they're bringing back all the incentives along with 0% financing. Tells me vehicles aren't selling. Even with $10k off the pickups are still $15-$20k too much.mjd4277, Gearjammin' Penguin and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
