I have a 2016 Cascadia Expedite straight truck with hand crank landing gear, been doing this for 10 years now and have never used the landing gear to raise the truck to meet dock level. It's only used to stabilize the truck from dropping when a forklift goes on. Most docks I bump I don't have to use it I just dump the suspension which makes the truck rock solid, it's only when dropping the truck makes it too low that I have to use the landing gear. I do have a drop axle so I can scale 54k so I'm not your normal box truck.

Sigh, what in tarnation was wrong with the freakin' crank? Tell you what, one bolt removed the crank and was pretty theft proof, but then I suppose one would have to know how to use a wrench.
Rideandrepair and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
What's that setup cost? Looks slick but I imagine it falls in the "automated conestoga kit" category of wish list for me
Could do it on a budget by pulling the handle off the legs to keep in the jockey box and weld half a nut to the shaft on the other side for an electric impact to grab, though!Rideandrepair and RollinChaos Thank this. -
I would rather see something where you hook up a battery operated ratchet either 3/8" or 1/2" and just use my ratchet to lower them would save alot of time that way
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

That’s basically what is on hopper trailers. You have one crank handle and use it to open the hoppers and on the landing gear. You could definitely do something similar and use an impact on it.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Guess I'm late then... Never seen such a thing until what I posted here...Rideandrepair, DeereRunner97, 201 and 1 other person Thank this.

First time I saw one was about 2012. Guy said it was slow, but great - until it breaks. I'm all for work smarter, not harder and will use any mechanical advantage I can get - to a point. Somethings don't need updating. I'd rather someone develop a way to strip the old grease out of the gear box and and legs than find a way for me to avoid cranking a handle 30-40 times.Rideandrepair, Savor the Flavor and JonJon78 Thank this.

Agreed. Had to pleasure of meeting/hanging with him while I was leased to Mercer for a couple years. He helped me do lots of stuff on my truck. Couldn't say a bad thing about the guy.Rideandrepair, DeereRunner97, Flat Earth Trucker and 2 others Thank this.
