Automated Tranny Pros and Cons

I drive an auto now. It sucks. But... my company is great and I need to pay bills so I guess I'm taking a timeout from being a supertrucker

 

I can see how that auto shift would be frustrating in that situation. Trying to feather the non-clutch (impossible) while negotiating through a tight back... really makes you want to rip that stupid shift paddle out and throw it out the window lol.

I had the same trans in my old truck and a regular customer of ours has what would be an easy dock setup with plenty of room to set up a nice easy sight side back. Only problem was their docks had a slight incline, and as you probably know, trying to feather one of those sob's on an incline is the worst. I always felt like an idiot backing in there because it would take forever, then I would almost always end up slamming the dock hard enough to rock the foundation.

Now I have the 12 speed dd15 ultrashift (or whatever it's called) with the twist style lever. It actually has a creep mode that works much better most of the time.

I'd still take a good old fashioned stick any day but I guess that's just not the way it's going to be. Times they are a-changing.
