O.K.....Just wanted to know which is better ?

I've been told DON'T get an Automatic's because : They Breakdown more ?....It's More Expensive when they Breakdown ?....Parts are harder to get ?......Less Traction during Winter driving ?....etc.

You can't go wrong with a manual , and also it feels better than automatic specially on downshifts and you put the retarders on and just enjoy the sound!!!!! Lol

i have no familiarity with auto. the really bad thing about auto IN MY IMAGINATION is the inability to control the gear you are in while going down a steep hill. if the hill/mountain is steep enough to demand that you stay in lower gear, what stops an auto from continuing to upshift, thus making it very dangerous? but again, having no real experience with auto, it could be i just dont understand how it works. never will either, at least not in practice. i want as much control as possible.

I have never driven an auto, but from what I have heard going down a hill is there is a button you can push to hold it in the gear it is currently in. They seem to have gotten the bugs out of them for the most part, but you can bet that when something does go wrong it will cost more to repair than a manual.

true does have a manual button and will lock it in the gear it is in also in manual you up/down shift as you want.....

it's not a automatic a automatic is what your car has...... it's a auto-shift.... the only parts it has that your standard 10sp doesn't is a computer controled XY shifter, a computer, and a wiring harness, all the inside parts are the same, the CLITCH is about 250 more

You guys realy want to advance the transmission (automatic) that de-values your skills ? A man is worth the problems he solves .. the more the industry goes toward automatics.. the lower the wages will become as it becomes easier and easier to hire steering wheel holders... Takes less skill to drive an auto.

They used to be way more expensive to repair because the parts were only available from the manufactures.
The internal parts have come way down in price and are now similar a manual.
Sometimes problems are harder to locate but as experience on them growing so is expertise.

As for control there is manual override so no issues of control.
I have no problems buying auto shifts now.

the job i had in IL last oct before i moved to TN had just got a new 2013 volvo with the i-shift auto trans, i didnt think i would like it but after driving it some it wasnt all that bad. i liked it a lot better than the 10sp autos that were in the freightliners that i drove before.

i still prefer to shift my own anytime over the autos
