No, thats factually incorrect, union in rail far precedes and is relatively uninvolved with the running of the company into the ground, at worst, the unions tend to stop rail service from being worse maintained than either the govt or company running it wants before it tends to collapse

If a car can't do complex traffic within a century how will a semi? Unless they spend trillions on infrastructure for Dedicated lanes to have driverless longhaul points, but that's only a fraction of the industry
