No, not even close. A fry cook makes about $8.00 Per hour. If they work 40 hours a week, which most do not, they would make $16,640 a year. Most are part time, do not get paid holidays or vacation so make more like $10,000 a year.

I don't see how grossing 800 a week is top dollar. If I wanted that, I could get back on with the state or county here. If I don't gross 1200 a week, I feel I had a bad week. And I could be home every weekend, if I really wanted to.

I think the industry has beaten down drivers to where they think marginal pay is decent pay. Really too bad. I've talked to numerous drivers who say they are lucky to gross 500 a week. Just amazes me......

This thread went bonkers. I think everyone is on each others side, but somehow things went a little off with context :biggrin_25523:

I started driving truck for a couple years with the chauffeurs licence then started driving concrete truck and semi dump for the past 20 plus years but was getter laid off every winter and was making about 24000 a year. This seems like a great job but really didn't know if that was good pay or not some say they make alot more but could be pulling my leg also.

They said things are slow but average pay should be 850 to 1850 gross a week but not sure how i would make 1850 if i work 5 days a week and only gross 850 but guess i will find out so far they seem pretty straight with me.

Some people make a lot more, some people make a lot less. I would say you are average. Home every weekend is a good thing that a lot of people can't get. So if it is "good pay" is up to you. Does it support your standard of living? What is the stress level of the job? would you rather be home every weekend or make more money? There are many things to think about....
