The I-10 bridges (the LONG ones -- over the bayous/swamps) in Louisiana majorly suck anyway.
Thus -- my vote sez use I-20 option.

Houston ain’t too bad as long as you can avoid the morning and afternoon rush but I’m with @lual - you wouldn’t have to deal with I-10 in Louisiana.
Bud A., RockinChair, Flat Earth Trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
But then you still have to deal with D/FW... I almost prefer driving in LA and NYC to Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, or Houston.bryan21384, Flat Earth Trucker, Big Road Skateboard and 1 other person Thank this.

i-10 thru Louisiana would be a lot less of a hassle if the big trucks would just slow down to the speed limit.

Where Are you actually going? There are a couple ways down through the woods from 20 in Louisiana to get over to Central Texas. Just depends on where you’re going

I've not driven through NYC or LA, (Lower Arkansas?) but i didn't think Houston was that bad. Maybe I got lucky. I've been to Atlanta and Chicago a few times. Not bad. Portland and Seattle, not bad.
Dallas? Nashville? Knoxville? Eff that, especially Dallasmjd4277, North Pole Nightmare and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
No need to do DFW. I-20 to exit 3 in Louisiana. US79 South to Carthage, Tx to Tx 315 to US259 at Mt Enterprise to US59 at Nacogdoches down to Houston.Grumppy, ‘Olhand, bryan21384 and 4 others Thank this.
