It will be nice until ALL...THE...SLABS...TILT....Texas seems to have a REAL problem with getting water to NOT undercut the roads.

I do the same thing when I take old 66 from Kingman to Seligman (or vice versa) or take the route from Flagstaff up through 4 corners and across US160, or take US 30 to go Waaaay AROUND Salt lake City. It may or may not save me ANY time. I probably break even, but at least I'm not screaming through the windshield. I avoid Interstates EVERY SINGLE TIME it's practical. I will take CA 62 across the desert to US95 specifically to avoid I-15 and Cajon Pass.INRUT and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
I've decided to go the 79 route. It's been straight and smooth so far. Gonna keep it simple and stay on 79 until I-35. Maybe I'll explore more later on.
I've stopped at the Texas Chainsaw Massacre abandoned gas station and tire shop in New Summerfield.
Henderson was a nice town. Has all the amenities; a Walmart, Lowe's, Tractor Supply Company, and a Chick-fil-A. All the houses were nice, too. I was expecting to see decay like you would in north Texas.
Thanks for the route suggestion.INRUT, PacoTaco, ‘Olhand and 1 other person Thank this. -
Until the next time somebody has an accident on the Lake Charles bridge.mustang190, Grumppy and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
