In the second picture I can see that the pit-man arm is straight up and down but the timing marks are not at the top. That is the wrong pit-man arm. The correct one would have the timing mark in a different spot.

Take the arm off and turn the gear until the timing mark on the shaft is exactly 90 Degrees to the piston bore as in the picture attached connect the drag ling to the arm and slip the arm over the spline. You may have to turn the steering shaft a bit to line the splines up. Turn the steering shaft shaft so the closest spline lines up.
The segment gear on the shaft is ground slightly eccentric so it binds very slightly when the steering gear is centred so there is zero play at the steering wheel.

For some reason I can no longer post pictures. Here is a link: https://i.imgur.com/8MGXPxH.jpeg

Before you put the retaining bolt on can you post another two pictures from the same place as the two previous pictures?

Thank you. I’ll do as you say. As far as the wrong pitman arm, it doesn’t surprise me since the shop that put this assembly on is the same one that broke the hub on my original front axle that started this whole thing. They suck.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

I’ll be back at the shop this weekend to work on the steering. We were out of town.

Ok, no go in getting the pitman arm off. My 1/2 inch Milwaukee flex impact, three arm puller and even used the torch on it. didn’t even try to move. Any ideas?

They can be tough to remove. There is a special puller for them.

When you had the puller on it did you give the end of the puller bolt a good whack with a hammer?

The manual has instructions for setting the plungers manually. Also mentions auto type plungers. Box will be marked AUTO if so. Regardless check out page 35 in the manual.

I’m tying to borrow a puller.
