Weight, Bridge and Axle limits can be confusing. A lot of driver's learn at the weight station, but that can be expensive. Here is a good link with diagrams from the FHSA. It has good info for all kinds of truck and axle configurations, so it can help all kinds of drivers. I hope this helps.http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/Freight/publications/brdg_frm_wghts/index.htm

Nice post for the link. A lot of newer drivers have no idea about bridge weights and how to figure them out. Basicly cause for some reason they never get shown in school or even by trainers for that matter. I know I wasn't. I didn't start learning about it all until I started hauling bulk due to everything we haul is right at the max all the time... thanks for the post.

I pull tankers as well and as long as I'm under 80k I'm happy. I've never worried about axle or bridge weight. Can't slide tandems on a tanker so why worry about it? My trailer is only 40' long anyway. I pull liquid tankers though. Not dry bulk.

I can scale 46.5k in a container and still under 80k but it's not legal.
legal weight for a hc is 43,600.
