Wow. I can't believe the baby survived, either. Someone was watching over them. I'm so glad the child is okay.

As for that truck driver, ...and his reply was a defensive, "it's not like I did it on purpose." How about showing some #### compassion or concern for the child??!? You still hit a baby!! And it's not all about YOU. Self-centered, narcissistic f*****.

i wish a full speedy recovery for the baby and mom...thats horrible....and the driver seems to be at fault...but at the risk of making everyone mad at me...why in gods name didnt she move back when she saw the truck making his turn...yes as a professional HE should have been more aware of his surroundings and not tried to complete the turn...so if it happened as it looks then yes, he is at fault....but she should have moved back...aint no way i am gonna stand at the edge of a curb with anyone making a turn that close....esp. a semi!!!! this is very tragic and i am not blaming the mom.....but she coulda prevented it, or so it seems.. if you wach the video...man she was right on the edge of that curb......ok, fire away....

I agree with the driver being responsible for his "lack of action", meaning he should have been looking, OR ( and I've done this myself) Stop before passing the corner and roll down the window and TELL THE PEOPLE TO MOVE BACK.

HOWEVER, before ALL of you start to criticise the driver, put yourself in his shoes!!!! How the He** would you feel knowing you almost killed 2 people, just because you DIDN"T LOOK?????????

I'd be in shock, I would be busy calling 911, PRAYING, APOLOGIZING and all while "BEATING MYSELF UP OVER THIS SENSELESS ACCIDENT"!!!!

The drivers' response was purlely a defensive reminder to the other guy that HE DID NOT DO THIS ON PURPOSE. I am POSITIVE HE had, at the time and will FOREVER have remorse over this.

Situations like these are what cause some people to commit suiside......HELLO!!!! There is NO taking this back, doing it over or fixing it. All he can do is pray for full recovery of the child and the mother and ask for forgiveness, from the family, the "higher power" who ever he prays to, and the hardest person of all, HIMSELF. I will bet some major psycological/ counseling help will be needed if not court ordered.

Of course, all of this is providing the guy cares, and I am positive he does.
So to everyone else who is quiping about the drivers' comment... BACK OFF!!!
(And I don't give a rip what kind of criticism I get.)

ah, I felt his reply was made in shock & likely out of context. News reports love to make it seem like the other person was a dingus... I feel for the driver too. How horrible. He will live with that the rest of his life.

edit: found the video... the tires are in the yellow part of the sidewalk... she had to be way too close to the curb also... not saying it's all her fault... just... be aware of the world around you!

A curbed tire will fail any driving test. The driver clearly didn't pinhook enough. There are curbs with poles and signs against the edge. So do you hit them too? The woman having the baby on the edge was ignorance of trucks and what can happen. But it's 100% the drivers fault. At least he stopped. It could of been a whole lot worse.

I wish the baby a full recovery and hopefully alot of readers are a little wiser.

    Higgy Thanks this.

I too think his comment was taken out of context or pure fear and remorse. I have seen people react much worse at accidents and so forth. they really are in shock and have no real idea what they are saying

I curbed a tire on the test and it was only a point. I learned a long time ago, before I even started driving a truck, that if if you go into any heavily populated area, assume everyone is stupid. They're more likely to move into your way than out of it.

I think that's a good rule for life in general, Kajidono.

About the incident, This is just horrible. Hoping the baby a quick and smooth recovery.
