Heavily thinking of going back on the road again, gotta eat and pay bills. My question is would being a company driver be better than O/O? I also have read of a lot a owners getting burn't with low miles and can't survive, someone give me the scoop. I know we have a bad economy, would going for O/O be suicide right now?

if you are already having trouble paying your bills, buyin a truck will surely relieve you of that burden..........no point worrying about bills when your flat broke

all sides of trucking sucks right now, o/o is just terrible right now
decent paying frieght it thin and hard to find....miles dont matter, you want total revenue

company guys are sitting as much as we are in most cases....and thier checks are as bad as ours

things are so ugly im looking into becomeing DOT!

I won't tell you not to buy a truck. When I bought my first everyone told me I was crazy. Freight was slow, fuel prices were up, tolls were going up,etc etc. That was in 1987. I will say this particular economy is creating problems for all drivers, company or O/O. Personally I would go company for 6mos to a year and see what's happening. If after that period of time you can justify buying a truck GO FOR IT!! I am a firm believer that if you understand the industry and compensation for the work you do satisfies you then OWN your truck, BUT understand how this crazy trucking industry works. You may not know all the answers BUT you should be able to understand the ups and downs that come with trucking. GOOD LUCK WHICHEVER WAY YOU GO!!
