Opus you are right on. I have observed they have 2 separate processes. One in which trucks don't have a tag in the window just write up in line and then trucks with tag in window..like me. Also the place has a door marked express lane but don't let that get your hopes up.
Having said all that...this is kenworth of Columbus and they have pretty good reviews. They are very polite and I have been sweetly nagging..it seems to help. Expect to get in this afternoon and have high hopes it will be a quick fix.

Does this sound right? Shop says clutch out of adjustment..a lot...says most clutches self adjusting but not this one and I should have it adjusted every 50k.

I don't know. But hopefully that's all it is, the alternative could of been disastrous, no?

If it's a manual adjust clutch, you pretty much have to keep an eye on it. Whenever it starts getting to the top of the pedal, it needs adjusted. I'm a stop and start with the clutch guy, the rest of the time I don't use it for much, but I still have to adjust every few months to keep it like it should be and where I like it. If you use it a lot you might want to get it adjusted at about 30,000 or so to keep it from getting out of whack.

Got out of shop and picking up a load this morning. I got clutch adjusted and 4 new batteries .. 2 were fried...and cost just under $1k . tres relieved. Nothing covered under warrantee. I missed battery warrantee by 24k miles and adjustment falls under routine maint.. Oh well. I learned something.
Pulled an empty trailer just fine but need to learn my shifting all over again. Remember I was fretting over how hard it was to find the right combo? Now I know why. Out of adjustment from the time I got it.
Anyway..the shop manager made a point of apologizing for how behind and busy they were and thanked me for my business!

Nope. They won't touch transmission. I asked. And let me know which truckstops get you in in under an hour..I will enter them in my contacts.
