Work it UTG. The worst thing that will happen is that you end up where you started.
    I'd cry....a lot. LOL

I am ... Now that I am a company driver ( back on the rail with jbhunt) I'm also committed to bringing this cautionary tale to a full completion which will occur when I get the final final final bill. I won't drag y'all through the months of making payments. We can just call those a "Stupid Tax" and move on with our lives....leaseless.

UTG...if I were in your shoes, I would play some hardball with these people. When you get the final bill, call them up and tell them that it's too much for you to pay. Tell them it's the bridge too far and they are leaving you with no choice but to seek bankruptcy protection. If you went chaper 7, they would get nothing and they know it. Then make them an offer, of 2000 cash now if that will settle the debt, tell them you will have to borrow from friends to do it, but you will if that will settle it. Make them send you a letter to that effect before you send the money. I have used this tactic in the past myself to settle unreasonable debt with good results.

I have heard of that tactic working for others. If the honey doesn't work, I may just whup out the vinegar.

He's right. I've heard of others doing the same. Make them play hardball with the clutch repair. I'm sure they buy enough equipment from KW that KW is willing to write off the repair.
But, like Freddy said, make 'em a offer.....low ball the crap out of them and make them come off the whole ammount.

I'm on shaky ground with the pre-agreed portion. They came out of the chute with a hardball..ie: make payment arrangements or they turn it over to a collection agency in 30 days. Now if I didn't have a good credit score I could tell them to rock on because Texas will not permit wage garnishment for this particular type of debt and I could walk away. But credit trashed. Not an option for me...in spite of painful comments regarding my "advanced age" and debt. Ouch.

I'm willing to go to the mat over the clutch portion though because they are scamming me hard on that. I'm know for a fact they have already attempted to collect that from TA because of the billed for but never performed pm lube.
I believe I could win that part in small claims...hello? Judge Judy?

Let's see where this first round lands.

well, cover the clutch, whittle it down to $4800 +/-, $100 a week for a year. Easy peasy. After all, you are employed.

Exactly my plan A. And yes I am employed and as long as I can grip a steering wheel with my shaky liver spotted hands, I have a steady income.

Oh, Magoo, you've done it again.
