Being a thief is nothing new. In 30 years I've had 2 tires, fuel taken twice, a set of tarps a CB antenna, a set of tire chains, a set of LED tail lights when they first came out. I think that's all.
A side benefit of getting old and selling out. No longer have to deal with that particular low life.
Edit; also 1 peterbilt fuel capLast edited: Oct 29, 2017

I was on the fence about commenting regarding thieving. But someone stole the fence.
ANYhow... locking fuel caps is a must and don't bother dealing with a spare tire if you are a company man. That is what road calls are for if the steers go out. I don't miss the work of replacing spares, but in my my time there is like 5 spokes, big bolts and off goes the tire with it's small rim like wheel that goes over the spokes on main wheel. Easy enough.
Credit cards are easy to steal if you use them to pay for gas, the bad cashier sometimes get arrested for theft in one form or another. You pay cash for the gas.
When I was with MBM taking care of Seafood into Redlobster (Along with beef, cheescakes etc) the potential for stealing right off the trailer, even with me in the truck was enormous. One of the things i had to do between end of Saturday and beginning of Sunday was babysit my trailer in Darien Connecticut rest area where this one had a 24/7 Mcdonalds that was actually pretty good, as far as McDonalds go with no one to clean it. It was a place easier to park a semi for a while before the 4th and last red lobster got delivered to on Sunday. People would occasionally try the door only to find a padlock on it. It nudges the airride suspension through the night so sleeping is iffy. (You won't believe how lightly a human can touch a semi and affect the suspension enough to wake me inside that bunk...)
I think I was more alert to MBM than anything else because Darden would dock your pay the value of whatever was lost, misplaced or what have you. And one box might be enough to put you into negative wage territory for a while. -
If I ended up with extra ones, I'd get on the cb and try to give them away, Nobody ever took any.
I got a lot of load straps too, sshhhLepton1 Thanks this.
