Why would you tell them that you don't? That's a strange question, sir, and needs some 'splaining before we'd know why you're wanting to know.
-
Just want to know, because I got into some trouble in the service and I would just they rather not know about it. Im straight now and havent got into any trouble for years, thats why Im asking
-
No, I don't think they would - that question is on every app I've seen, and I'm sure there's a federal requirement to ask, but I've never had anyone ask about my answer to that question.
I don't think you'd get a second glance on it if you left it out.KenMx Thanks this. -
All right thanks alot Ronin

If you were in the service and there is a place on the app for it, you better say yes. By putting NO, you have given FALSE info which is ground's for termination by most company's. Your employer is required to establish your prior employment for the past 10 years.

There's no one at some generic base that's going to field the form to verify. I have my own feelings on this, being former military, but answering his question and understanding why he's wondering... there's no way it'll ever come up.
There's no magic military person who verifies employment, and if he leaves the section blank or checks "no" under "did you serve?", it'll never be second-guessed.
Other than some wild scenario involving black helicopters and the sky falling, how could it? -
There's a spot on the application about military service. Too my knowledge, the furthest they go is your DD-214. I knda get where your coming from, since I have prior attendence to Basic Training (twice, two different branches), but since I didn't complete Basic I'm not a Veteran. But I do have both DD-214 forms. Both General Discharges. Since the military doesn't consider me a veteran (for good reason. Veterans complete training and actually serve!), I don't put down prior military service on my apps.
ronin Thanks this. -
Take it for what its worth. Butt, a lie by omission is still a lie.
-
He didn't ask if he would be lying if he omitted it. he asked if they would look into it. And no, I can't imagine that someone in HR would see "no service" checked, think "but that guy looks like he's former military, so I don't believe what he said, so I'm going to go into an exhaustive search to verify service and prove him wrong".
No, can't see it happening.
