Hello out there,
I will be going through school in a few short weeks and was wondering about the hiring process with Trucking Companies. I have been unemployed for 2 years, but stable work history prior to that. Is my unemployment a problem for companies? Thank you.
Background Checks, previous employment?

Probably not (with many) but perhaps (with a few). I have been in a financial position to "retire" from trucking and work in general for 12-18 months at a time, and come back to new carriers. However, they will want personal references to verify unemployment (not working for an employer) to make sure you weren't working somewhere with a company, sued for fraudulent workers-comp or whatever, an are trying to "act like you were never employed and it never happened".
You will be treated as though you are completely green to trucking, though and you will. -
I was unemployed last two years, with over 25 years in semiconductor industry prior and Swift accepted my app and I am going to training in two weeks.
