i certainly agree with the sentiment, tho i think 95% is probably a little high (at least i hope it is). and some days i, too, am "as happy as a rat in a cheese factory", while other days im as happy as cheese in a rat factory.

Not everyone with 20 years exp can say they're happy. Keep on keepin on!

The only time I turned down a load was when I was home with my little girl and had nobody to watch her. Other than that tell me when and where.

Cliff!! Oh how I laugh at the guys that just look when you wave. It's funny because while they're in there truck pissed because we're happy enough to be human, we're happy enough to be human and aren't griping to our XYL's Haha!

What company do you work for?
Also, I like your quote: when guts are outlawed, only outlaws will have guts. -
Must still be on paper logs. Must be nice lol. Or have a really good planner that gets it. Some of our customers are very anal about thier appointment times so we better not be late. Some of our planners just don't get it that just cause it works out on paper there's still that matter of getting thru DC or Philly or the NYC area at 7am lol or 45k in the box thru the mtns when it works out just right on paper but in practice you just won't get it there on time. At my company if you commit to it and don't make it then it's on you. I've got no delivery failures and plan on keeping it that way. I'm on an elog so if it won't work out to keep certain customers happy I have to turn down the preplan. Having said that I turned down only 5 the whole of last year.
Other than that I agree with you. Tell me when and where and I'm rolling. Even the short ones. It all adds up at the end of the week and my job is to drive not pick where and when I want to go. Hell I even took a preplan once with only 13 paid miles on it. No telling how many turned it down before I got it. What they ( and I ) didn't know was when I took that 13 miler to the drop, there was a preload waiting there with 1311 miles on it and I got it hehehe cha ching lol.
And I agree also with a previous poster who said it's not really 95% but it's at least 50. At my company and sitting in the truckstops everyday. And not just trucking either. Seems to be the attitude of the whole world anymore.Last edited: Feb 1, 2013

sounds much better than being as mad as a fat boy in a twinkie factory.
