I'd be tempted to tell them the drop yard is the ditch when I remove the poles, angle the truck towards the ditch and start cutting banding straps.
Then again, sometimes you feel like a prick, sometimes you don't.![]()

I hate to disagree with a "truck forum supporter" but threatening to sell the product or returning the load to the shipper is bad advice. You will NEVER get paid if you return the load to the shipper. You can threaten to charge them and send them all the invoices you want but they don't have to pay. I imagine the rate confirmation is very specific about only paying what was originally agreed to. They would be under no obligation to pay you for returning it. Also, the freight is not yours to sell. It is in your possession and you are responsible for it but it does not belong to you. Anyone willing to buy it would be just as guilty. Still curious if you have spoken to the broker about detention and if they are willing to work with you?

I would by-pass the broker, call the receiver directly, and state your case in a business manner. Ask for suggestions. After that it depends on your relationship with the broker. If you have a long term relationship with this guy, or are trying to build one,and he refuses to help, then just eat it and mark it up to trucking. A good broker will make it up to you sooner or later.Remember to check future agreements for these problems.Live and learn.
If this is a seldom used contact, take the high road anyway.Just wait it out.. Any other course of action could harm you more.halfburn Thanks this. -

I'm a bit more rigid than some..... You contracted to move the pipe from A to B and you're there. Tell the broker to call the receiver and get that pipe off your truck. It's no skin off your ### where they put it and none of your business really, just get it off my truck.
If they get sticky then unbind and dump...pay the driver and take the tax loss. Don't haul it back and don't sell it.
Get your call from the rep and if he stalls, pop the chains and move on.

It has yet to arrive at ' B ' by the sounds of things , snow making getting to const site not possible , so technically they have not fulfilled the job they were hired to do.
