I could use your/group help. I'm having a issue with my boss about the drive tries on the truck. I believe the need to be replaced but he says they are fine here is a pic of the tires![]()

Pics can be deceiving but they look fine to me.

Im just use to seeing a good tread pattern on them some said ribed tires? seems like crap in rain and snow too me

Unless they are less than 2/32 those drives are fine. If the two straight grooves in the center are what's concerning you, I'd suggest learning a little about tread patterns. They are known as "channel treads" and are there specifically to move water. The outer two are known as "traction treads" they provide some measure of water removal but primarily grip the road. Different tread patterns are common and can be adapted to your particular driving/weather conditions.

You want different tread now that we are into winter. There are all sorts of types of tread ranging from off road cross grip all the way up to the ones you have in the pics.
I see nothing that jumps out at me on those pics, but would measure the depth of the tread.

do I have done in the past. ask the DOT at a scale house. they can then write it up ,with a warning to be fixed.

Those look like trailer tires to me. Who would put those on a drive axle?
Regardless, they still look good as far as wear, IMO. -
I was thinking the same thing, they look like trailer tires. Lets say they are.
You introduce all sorts of problems with wrong tires on the wrong positions of the rig dontcha think? -
In this CSA age I don't recommend this action. It is potential trouble a driver and their company don't need.Tires are part of the CVSA Out of service criteria. The driver IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY of the operation of said vehicle. If you as a driver don't feel it is safe to operate don't drive it. I have refused to operate vehicles because of things that needed to be fixed OR an expired or missing permit.
As far as those photo's go I don't see anything wrong with them at this point, but at some point in the near future they will need to be replaced.Toomanybikes Thanks this.
