Bad economy and trucking what it like now?

    But all the jogs ads i see want 2 or more years of experience. I saw an ad for cement truck driver on craigslist but they wanted 3-5 years experience. Can U clue me in??

    No offence was intended, driver. Just want people to understand that if China, who manufactures lots of what we used to make is in deep kimshee right now, it doesn't bode well for American workers including we drivers who are not getting loads because no one is buying things on credit due to the recession and loss of jobs.

    They heydays of trucking died in 1980 when deregulation hit the industry. The only thing that has gotten better is the trucks themselves. When I started out in trucking lots or most rigs had no AC, no power steering, no air ride suspensions, no condos, lots less horsepower and there were still many twin stick transmissions around, not as many air shift units. Lots of rigs had two stroke GM diesels that would belch smoke like a black coal stack and putting a few gallons of oil a day in the motor was par for the course. At least drivers got more respect and pay back then.
