Here's the kicker. I got a rock solid plan together, and then when I went down to Detroit to pick up my preloaded trailer and it would seem that somebody beat me to the punch. My trailer wasn't there! LOL. That means I got to come home and eat real food.![]()
bad experience due to poor trip planning advice?

What did the company say about the mess up? -
Which Company? They're both pissed!! My company doesn't know where the hell its trailer is, and the person in charge of the facility that loaded my trailer swears up and down that it's loaded and in the lot.
either somebody stoll my trailer, (highly unlikely considered the facility requires a gate code to get in, and has a barbed wire fence around the parimiter,) or some other rookie came in late at night (like I did my first run) and forgot to check the paperwork, thus ending up with the wrong trailer.
Either way, there's a customer in Tenisse who still needs a truck load of potato chips, so whether the dumass that took my trailer returns it and gets the right one, or the company just prepares a brand new load, I'll still probably get to make use of my plan on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how long it takes them to straighten this mess out. -
Nothing like screwing things up on both ends! At least you'll still get to use the plan you mapped out.

Where you picking up at? (Nik's asking, as he has hauled potatoes into Detroit area).

No dispatcher EVER has the right to tell you to "fudge" a log book. DOT demands that you operate that truck in a safe manner under there guidlines. If an accident were to happen while you were driving that illegal, YOU could end up in prison...not your dispatcher. And fireing you for that is illegal. I know alot of companys do it, but us guys that have been around a while know where we stand legally and can deal with the desk jockies.
I would advise you to use all the tools you have before you get there i.e. maps, gps,..whatever. and stay calm. You also need to learn when a dispatcher is asking you to do something unreasonable. When they do that they are usally using you to get themselves out of trouble of some sort. And you as a driver are well within your rights to say NO....Please be safe...your family will thank you...; D
