@PermanentTourist how about rear end? Detroit rears break a lot and fixing is expensive. Meritor is a good one. if it's a freightliner/penski ask them to update mcm, cpc, acm modules before buying it.

They allegedly already did all the software updates.

I just posted a copy of the 60 day warranty in yet another post that I'm bombing the forum with:

Is this thing for real - Freightliner 60 day buyer's assurance

Sorry to keep bothering y'all, but this second truck buying adventure is a lot harder than first truck. Werner just sort of assigned me that one and I just had to deal with it. Good old days, lol

I think you were wise in skipping the first one. This one seems a LOT better all around but certainly not cheap. It's a catch22 here. Good trucks are hard to find right now but Cascadias are the most common truck by far, so just make sure absolutely everything about is just like you want, warranty and maintenance as well as spec. It looks great btw.

Yeah, it's purdy. And look at this hatch thing! 20181001_192616.jpg

I've only ever seen those on the long nose classic type trucks. Would be perfect for looking at the stars at some quiet truck stop in arizona. Too bad I won't be driving it.

And it even comes with a chain hanger and some rusty ### chains, lol

Nope, good old fashioned 10 speed. I kinda don't care one way or the other, would have gone with automatic if everything else was the same. Those DT12s do have a nice and strong engine brake, but manual is more fun

And I know the engine brake is not in the transmission, but somehow I could go down bigger hills with no brakes when I drove an automatic cascadia. Maybe gear ratios or something.

if you will install latest oil pump on it engine brake will perform much better. done it on my engine. just yesterday I had a call from friend who has Cascadia with dt12. Something happened to the truck in mo. He had paid $1200 for towing to St Louis, MO. The freightliner gave him an estimate of $6000 to change the clutch and some few small things on DT12. They also told him that it will take about week until job will be done.

What are you talking about? I'm buying a 2015 t680 with Cummins and thinking about aftermarket warranties now that original is up
