Had a 9am appointment at a receiver this morning. Got there at 830am. I dropped the trailer and was winding up some straps. Another driver starts yelling and crash, some doorslammer backs into the right side of my hood and folds the bumper.
A Prime driver runs up and tells me that this guy was trying to back up while holding a phone to his head. Idiot gets out and offers cash. Got $15000 in your pocket? Nope? God I am pissed.
Called the cops and 45 minutes later, cop shows up. Cop asks to see a driver's license and the guy says that he lost his wallet. Cop writes a small report and gives me a copy with the guy's insurance info on it and leaves.
Doorslammer leaves.
I call my insurance company and they tell me the fastest way to get my truck fixed is to call the other guy's insurance. I call and the other insurance company says that they havent covered this particular carrier for # 6 months. God I am pissed.
I called the Laredo PD and the line is busy. I go to the KW dealership and they want $100 for an estimate. I sit waiting for 3 hours and finally leave. I finally get through to the PD and the officer is gone for the day.
I call my insurance company back and told them that I want my truck fixed. I need 2 estimates and pictures. So, I will be sending pictures of the other truck, with DOT numbers (hope they are legit...everything else about that company sure isnt), and everything else. Gotta find a shop nearby the house for the downtime. God I am pissed.
The only good thing about this is that my insurance company has already located this other trucking company (22 truck outfit from Michigan). Just hope somehow DOT gets them for running without insurance.
Bad luck strikes again

Back in the day, before computers, i could see it. I actually had an uncle that would take out Ins. get the certificate, then cancel it and get his money back, then truck all over the USA until next year.No computers or web sites back then, and nobody ever called the Ins company to verify coverage.
GOOD LUCK Triple6!!! -
I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope everything works in your favor. Hope that his company gets hammered.

My truck got hit by a fool in a 4wheeler back a few months ago in mi and mi laws are so messed up it was ruled his fault but by mi law his insurance only has to pay $500 in property damage so my insurance had to pay and I had to fork out the deductable $1000 thank god I had full coverage or I would have really been screwed he did over $7000 in damage to the truck. Just be glad you werent in mi.
