Whats up with all the bad mouthing about trucking to the newbies? I mean seriously.. it's like all I hear from the seasoned guys is HOW BAD trucking is.. if it's that bad WHY ARE YOU DOING IT? Is the negativity a last resort to try to scare all the rookies or prospects away so that you can have more miles? I mean seriously.. I understand completely of the trials and tribulations of being "NEW" but come on here.. I can easily go and tell all the new guys that come into my warehouse and tell them every bad thing that will happen, how they won't make money, etc.. and do I expect them to stay? Regardless if it's the "truth".. why even say anything negative unless you really have a hidden agenda of trying to just scare people away from the industry.. Those that aren't helpful to new drivers are exactly why the general public looks down on truckers as a whole and those that ARE helpful end up getting the bad rap for NOTHING.

People that are NEW should already know how they will be starting at the bottom.. THEY ALREADY KNOW that pay will be crap, THEY ALREADY KNOW the company they start with will probably be bad.. THEY WILL SOON KNOW that there are a lot of hurdles to get over to accomplish goals.. This doesn't need to be addressed like a broken record every time a new person comes along with a question! Believe me.. I've seen many questions on here that don't get answered correctly but instead is reverted to the same o' copy and paste answers about HOW CRAPPY it will be..

This rant is not for those that have been helpful or encouraging.. this is for those (you know who you are) of you that only can find the bad parts to the job to talk about.. I STRONGLY suggest to those that can only find bad things to talk about with this industry TO GET OUT!

My big reason for the post is because I just read a thread where a new guy was looking for companies that would take younger drivers and he also wanted info on schools.. instead of getting an actual answer he basically was told it was a bad idea and to do something else with his life.. and that trucking wasn't worth his time.. Basically I'm offended by the responses because for me, as I venture into this industry, I want to do it because I'm a mover.. I hate being stuck in one place.. So for me I think trucking is in your blood.. I didn't think the answers the guy was getting was what he was looking for to say the least!

It's not me that I'm talking about because it wasn't my problem.. My problem is the lack of respect for people that are genuinely interested in this lifestyle/career and only a few people out there are actually willing to help

Well to be fair, i see a lot of whiners from the newbies, because they don't get what they wanted. Too many people these days are out for an easy paycheck, and the work ethic for the younger generations (generally speaking, meaning not everyone) don't have the work ethic as older generations. I remember my grandfather telling me of all the stories of when he started way back in the early late 60's. I have been on this site a few weeks and it's been very insightful. All the questions i have asked, always got a response, and most i have seen get asked, most answer in a very straight forward respectful way. Of course with anything, you will have a few who ##### and moan, have personal grudges, like to dramatize everything, blow it out of proportion, thats gonna happen with anything, same with every single trucking company out here. I promise you won't find one trucking company with a perfect positive review. The guy who got fired for backing over a car because he didn't check his mirrors or bother to do a pre trip inspection will say it was the companies fault. I think for the most part i have seen a lot of helpful people on here with only a small handful being drama queens. That's my take on it anyways...

Thanks AT.. That's what I mean.. there are a few out there that will help and then theres those that don't help.. and yes there are those newbies out there that whine that they didn't know (which I don't know how they didn't know) that something might not work the way they hoped.. but maybe, just maybe, seasoned drivers could be supportive and help the newbie out.. I dunno maybe it's too much dr. phil but it sure would make things a little better out there.. it's bad enough what you have to go through on a daily basis, why not make it better for someone else!

Bro, you can't let people on a website like this get under your skin. Your gonna have those bitter ol drama queens who have nothing better to do then badmouth and bring misery into others lives. The guy looking for info, hopefully would look on other threads, there is a lot of positive information on other threads that i found so if anything, email the guy and tell him about the other subject and threads. Your not going to get 100% of all people on here respecting one another, as much as it would be nice, it's not going to happen, just ignore the dumb arses and counter it with something positive.

I don't know the thread you speak of, and perhaps it got out of line, but on any internet forum, one needs to know to sort the wheat from the chaff.

You could ask if seatbelt use on toilets should be mandatory, and someone out there will tell you it will save lives
