You apply for the permit, your ifta filing is your proof of miles. Pretty simple. The biggest pain is gathering the info off of your engine tag. If that's missing it can be a real pain figuring out exactly what your engine serial number, and family number is

In the past you quoted I was replying to a guy that plans on his truck never entering the state of California. Would be very easy to show your main residency in another state if your truck doesn't enter that state.

Just come on in and see for yourself,They are not playing..CARB means business...We are building a new 38 million dollar super scale POE from nevada to calif on I 15 right at the stateline just to enforce the new regs...I'm sure interstate 40 will be next..

And if the truck does not enter California they can build a hundred new scales and it won't mean diddly. What part of the truck will not be going to California are you not understanding?

How about all of us, the truckers that don't agree with CARB, get together and make a hub in TX, or OR, and just swap trailers so we can continue without legalities....what do you all say? I love my Jack/Honey....

From what I understand it is just a proposal right now. It will not be decided until April but if it goes through as proposed, yes you could run up to 1,000 miles in California but you need to notify then ahead of time (I’m not sure how that is done).

Until it passes they are only waving enforcement for the first 6 months for “owners who ordered trucks, diesel particulate filters or could prove they were turned down for a loan to purchase equipment to meet the rule.”

Q: Has anyone taken a hard look at their business model and see if Cal is even worth it? Do you really do so much business in the state that you can justify new power or 10k retro's?

    Just asking......

We had some sort of agreement with a local to come to the border and pick up our trailer ( like Mexico ) , make the delivery and bring the trailer back. That did become too expensive eventually so my carrier dumped the business.......just saying......the way I hear most talk the state just isn't worth the hassle. ( from a business stand point )

The only problem with having a local grab your trailer, is if your load come into california at Reno, and your reload goes to the Northwest. Duh, Do you bobtail from Reno To Klamath Falls to get your trailer back?

I was thinking more like a holding yard. The name escapes me but a place where they off load you and re-load it on to someone local.
