Check the cabin filter in the truck. Maybe it’s clogged up and just recirculating dusty air. Are ya’ll making sure to keep the truck clean also?

Do a severe cleaning job on the entire inside of truck , replace all cabin filters immediately. Thats the only way to find out what is going on. Then make trainer get a health check and get one yourself to make sure there are no diseases involved!!!!!!!!!!!

The cabin filter will make a big difference, and I agree with all the advice given above by M. Grossman. Filth accumulates a lot quicker than you think!

No way a new driver should be driving the night shift. When I trained I would have the trainee drive first thing in the morning after a decent nights sleep. I would spend most of the time in the passenger seat answering questions and on long interstate sections I would sit in the sleeper. Helps new guys when someone is critiquing every single move. Once the trainee started to loose focus, I would take over and finish what I thought was a good day of driving. It takes a few weeks to build up a tolerance to sit in the drivers seat. I NEVER used a trainee as a second logbook to make more money. I just liked training guys to be good truck drivers, not steering wheel holders.
