That's the same way I was trained. I learned hard and fast just like he is doing. That's what I wanted though and it built up my confidence and skills fast.
Once the training is over and you're running solo you'll get more sleep and rest than you want. You'll be looking at your watch and swearing because you can't get back on the road right now and have to wait until the break or rest period is over.

As for the cough, might be stale air inside the cab causing it. You and the trainer breathing and exhaling the same air.
I use Ricola cough drops and that works for me. Can get sugar-free if you prefer. Several different flavors with or without sugar. Can buy at Walmart. Can also order online from Walmart Online Shopping.

Here's a pro tip. You're a team driver. You're not in training at all. It's just forced teaming.
Actual training means you have the same schedule as the trainer and they're watching what you're doing and not on their phone the whole time.

Eat some decent food. Fruit. A salad. Especially apples and oranges.

It takes awhile to develop the stamina OTR trucking requires.

You're going pretty hard. It takes more out of you than you think.

Try to sleep as much as you can, which I know is a B in a moving truck.

Keep your eye on the prize, and you will make it.

You might be having a rough time and they might be taking advantage of you but also consider that you are halfway through their program. Rest and learn and like someone mentioned do the Green Acre thing. Fresh air.

is your a/c knob on recycle/max?

if so, your breathing dry, stale air 24/7.

I would never use that setting unless there were fumes or something coming in.

    Not what I expected.
    But thank you anyway.
He should be a student in training, not a full blown team operation member.
    He won't learn anything.

    training and Concorde Thank this.

Truck driving is a simple task; he's not learning to fly a spaceship to Mars.
Many new drivers overthink every detail.

was gonna say......you're probably getting dried out from the A/C......it happens to me. Just open the window a bit and let some regular air come in.
Oh, and by the way, you're getting screwed. Look into better options. What you're running is not normal.
    Good luck
