My son just started PSD training with prime over turkeyday week.
I know he is going to be on the road alot and will not really get back here to MA that often. that being said, the bank he is using is just a local bank the family has used for years, not one of the mega banks that have ATM's on every street corner in every state.
which leads me to my question, what is a good bank to go with?
one that would give him a wide choice of network atm's across the US and give him the ability to both withdraw AND deposit. which with the current bank, he can't deposit at just any ATM, making it so he would have to carry his money untill he made it back to MA, which is really not a good idea..
I know fee happy Bank of America is one, but are the others???
Thank you...

Dont Prime offer direct deposit? If so I would just stay with your local bank and use there ATM card if they offer one.

Great Southern and Commerce based in Springfield, MO where Prime's headquarters are offer free ATM's nationwide. Not sure about deposits nationwide, but you can always do paypal or wire transfers.
Check into Pinnacle, Regions, Wells Fargo. Just some suggestions. -
Seems to me he should set up direct deposit, apply for an debit card and go from there. What he will have to watch though is the fees that some/all ATMs charge. If he needs money on the road he should get cash back when he purchases something therefor avoiding the fees at ATMs.
gentleroger Thanks this. -
Yes prime does offer direct deposit and he can have his pay split between the bank and his comdata card that's what I did my bank is only on the east coast so I just did idrect deposit instead of switching banks

Not sure why he'd be making deposits, Prime has direct deposit for payroll.
Here's what I did. I have direct deposit to my home bank checking account attached to a debit card. I also opened an ALLY Bank Money Market acct on line. I have a debit card with them also, and currently .85%APR which they generally keep higher than anywhere else. I use the Ally card for ATM transactions as they charge no fee and reimburse the machine fees at the end of the month. I use my home bank card for debits and paying bills on line as the Ally acct has a six transaction limit per month (ATM withdrawals do not count). Transfers between accts takes a couple days but is easy to keep up with on line.
Hope this helps. -
Good luck finding a Truck Stop that will give you cash back on a debit purchase. They prefer you use their ATM and pay the $3.50 fee.

Split pay between direct deposit and the comdata card. You then have access to cash for scales/tolls and your debit card for whatever else.

Prime can do direct deposit with his weekly settlement. If he has an ATM card he's has money. My bank in Maryland has exactly two branches and a deposit slip can be written on the back of a match book. Look on the back of the ATM card and look for the Plus, Interlink or NYSE logo. Prime also issues a ComData card to the drivers. His weekly settlements can be deposited into his account and where they take a credit card they can USUALLY use the ComData card just like it was cash.
Also, you can open a checking account on-line with USAA even if the family or he's not a prior member of the armed service. If goes this route, he can make a deposit at any USP Store. Locations: http://saf.li/e7jaC

Schwab Bank (located in Nevada) is affiliated with the Schwab brokerage firm and has a checking account worth looking at. It pays interest, has unlimited ATM fee refunds, Visa debit card, no minimums and no fees.
