Marathon was hiring fuel drivers around Safford, some other company name on the billboard. They have driver cams.

My last contact at CTI quit about two months ago, we went to orientation at CTI and we worked in Safford together, he went and bought his own truck and put it on at Bulk hauling acid, the last time we talked on the phone he said he was doing about $305 a night hauling acid for CTI, so the pay went up a bit since I left there, but he told me he would make considerably more as a owner op at Bulk, the good thing about Safford is there is always driving opportunities there, CTI, Savage, Barney, BJ Cecil, Western Refineries (or Marathon I guess they are now), Bulk, and even Ruan (they had a contract for hauling concentrate I think its called for the mines) so take your pick, the only negative I see is that all the jobs are centered around what the mines are doing, if mining is good the jobs are there, if mining declines then so do the jobs.

One other thing, in all honesty you will probably have no problem landing a job at CTI, BUT they are in a bad way right now, there is a reason for the onslaught of constant hiring ads from them, they were not bad people to work for but the operation and pay could have used alot of improvement which looks like it might finally be happening, but it's a little to late, the other carriers have poached most their drivers and they are at risk of losing their entire operation at Curtiss to L.W. Miller if they don't get things turned around, I guess what I am trying to say is as a job to fill in a temporary void it will be alright, but for longevity I don't know, another member on here speedyk can tell you some stuff about CTI as well.

Yeah, that kinda makes me think more about going back to fuel in Phoenix, I really shouldn't have left. It was easy and it paid good enough.
And now that I've been out here in the oil field for 2 years, I've started to appreciate what I had there in the pit, oh I mean there in the valley lol.
Also saw an post for Arizona propane, regional otr, claiming 900-2000k a week which may mean at least 1400 a week, I'm going to call them up too.
Fuel isn't a bad gig. Oil may pay well, but I don't think it's worth it anymore. Rates are coming down, and I'm only making a little more than I made hauling fuel. Except I'm in a crappy town with nothing to do.

The lw miller district manager i spoke with was a smug and abrasive idiot. Even worse than the new gen of CTI managers. They are relying on company connections with the parent company of Apache, but if they keep up the attitude they'll have trouble finding/keeping drivers, will have service failures, and likely lose out. The idjit from Utah thought all he had to do was keep mentioning how family oriented they are. He did not like any questions concerning actual details of the work.

There are card carrying mermaids around, like in st david, but they aren't the majority.

I know for a fact that CTI knows, from the very top, that it's screwing drivers. It was relying on an endless supply of uninformed drivers and didn't used to have pesky internet forums and job sites with reviews getting in the way of that conveyor belt.

Why is it that no sane and worthwhile company does business in that corner of AZ?

The one thing about Phoenix for sure is there is a endless list of trucking jobs there, plenty of opportunities just to #### hot for me, I was hauled NH3 for Kimrad after my stint at CTI, they haul crude oil as well, so I got to talk to the drivers and heard all the horror stories about having to do the samples and the possible rejects after driving all the way out to the well, all because those scrubber guys or whatever they are called ,who are supposed to take care of the well tanks didn't do their jobs, that was enough to turn me off right there, never hauled crude oil for them.

I don't man, but you are spot on, I was wondering if you were in the loop about the current soap opera going on at Apache right now, I just found out all this earlier this week, talked to a former co worker who was CTI, then Kimrad and now he is at LW Miller, he filled me in on everything, apparently for now LW has most the solution runs, but are now bringing in trucks with blowers, and pneumatics on the way too, I get what you are saying but you can see the writing on the wall.

Yeah Its hot, im only thinking about now because I have a nice rv, there's a group of rv parks in black canyon, just north of anthem, its usually just a little cooler lol.
As for hauling crude, it's super easy, easier than fuel or any other driving job I've had. But I'm always having to breath in h2s which i think is getting to me, I'm tired of being covered in mud and oil, and sick of shaving due to safety regs.
Phoenix sucks, but I miss having stuff to do, play pool, go bowling, meet women, Sedona, lake pleasant, etc etc.
From what speedyk says, I think I'll pass on the safford area and just look at going back to the pit. Or take a regional job just for a change. I dont have family, so my options are pretty open.

Probably not a bad idea, not saying you can't make money in Safford, but considering CTIs current state of affairs it may not be the thing to do, also in addition to what I and speedy have already stated, there also what I refer to as the FMI acid racket, whenever one of those companies #### up at the mines, FMI will usually punish them by cutting their hauls down for about a month just to teach them a lesson, they have done it to CTI, Bulk, Barney, BJ Cecil ect, no one is safe from FMIs rath lol, even though you may not have been directly involved in it, the fact that you work for the company that was involved in the incident will affect your loads hauled, and yes like oil, acid hauling requires a respirator, acid suit and shaving, plus endless MSHA and safety rules.
