There is a lot of info on Barr Nunn around the site. I talked with a driver recently with Bay & Bay. Kinda got the idea he would rather be somewhere else. I really don't know that much about them. Barr Nunn is nearby to me. I checked with them a couple of years ago, but did not get a good feeling. Can't say what exactly it was. My gut said to go elsewhere. My last carrier sold out and I was looking around. I finally settled on Fremont Contract Carriers out of Fremont, NE. It has been a good move. I primarily run Midwest and am home virtually every weekend and all holidays. I had this with my last carrier and wanted to stay with it. It would work for you, being out of Ohio. We have a few drivers out of Ohio. Or you could do the 48 state thing if that fits you better. I have done as well or better doing regional for the last 10 years as I ever did with 48 state and I have a life outside of the truck. Right now, we have a good thing going as we are starting to hit that mark where we are getting more freight than we have trucks to run. I have had to pull my travel agent's rear end out of the fire the last two weekends. I went by the home office yesterday and they had 5 people in orientation. We have a total of around 300 trucks (about 90 company and the rest O/Ops).

Do you guys run in western PA ? Does your company hire from that region ( Pittsburgh ) ? What kind of miles do you get every week ? I went to the website, but they haven't posted their pay rates.

    Oops sorry...I just realised that I've hijacked the OP's thread....my apologies !!!

I know of one driver from NJ that is here. He went thru orientation with me in Jan '08. We have a lot of stuff that goes out to PA and New England. I normally don't do that area, but have had to run a few loads out to PA to cover my travel agent's rear end. You would have to call Scott in recruiting to get details on if they are hiring out of that area at this time. Same with pay rates. I am O/O and I haven't kept up with pay rates on company side. They didn't lower them as some carriers have done in this economic climate. They use Blue Cross / Blue Shield for their medical/Dental.

One thing I like about Fremont is that they believe every driver, if possible, should be home every week to week and a half. Unless you want to run more. They're dispatch policy is that, before a travel agent goes home at night, they have to have 80% of the trucks assigned to them booked for freight the next day. Makes sit time here minimal. I put this truck on in Sept '08 and from then thru Sept '09, I did around 145,000 miles. Home virtually every weekend and all holidays. Company and O/O treated equally here. No favorites. Darn good customer base to work with.
