Hi I have hauled containers with a company and switched to another that ran both container and flatbed... Then I just leased on to pure flatbed I am just wondering as an owner op are the numbers pretty much consistent with any thing you haul meaning like flatbed , dry van , gravel... Etc I have noticed my numbers in container world I would net around 2 k and I am finding that flatbed I am doing about the same but putting more miles on my truck please will someone give me some in sight to this.... Is there a more paying trailer am I just not with the right numbers but I am finding these numbers to be discouraging... When I mean by net tolls and fuel... This does not include monthly payments of flatbed truck insurance etc. any info will be most kindly thank you .

In the 4 months I've been rolling, I've grossed $69,120 under my own authority. I've spent $17,255 on fuel/additives/scales & $109 on tolls. By your definition, I net $2974 per week pulling a dry van.

But my actual weekly net, or more specifically EBITDA, is more like $1891 ($1771 EBITA) -- though I expect to bring that over $2,000 in a few more months...

You should be making more money pulling a flatbed over hauling containers. If your not then you need to find better freight and push your brokers a little more. Flats are averaging 3.50-4$ per mile depending on where your located. If your not in that range then your being handled. That's assuming it's your equipment you said your a o/o so I'm guessing it's your equipment.

Well #1 that's not a good rate-so figure the company you're getting freight thru either takes somewhat cheap brokered freight then subs you onto it, then pulls off a percentage, or they command poor rates from direct customers. #2 I can't speak to container work, but made a bunch more than the money you're quoting pulling a flat. I covered a bit more ground but it would have been easy to work the same area as you are.

Talk to guys you see doing similar work to you, and find out what kind of money they are making. Gives you a point of reference for how you are doing.

being leased to a carrier netting in the 2k range per week is about right, there are some who say they net over 3k a week, maybe those who pull over size or heavy haul im just skeptical I guess, not calling anyone a liar but I would have to see the settlement sheets to believe those big net numbers, just me

Netting $2000 pulling a flat is not about right, period. My average net with a dry van is considerably more than that leased on. Last week it was double that in fact. The OP here is hauling cheap freight and probably being had by the company he's leased to I would suspect. Do you see the actual rate cons from the brokers? If not, you should.
Oh, and I'll be happy to show you my settlements if your so "skeptical".

What I am considering net pay is just fuel and tolls for the run to figure out runs net pay.... I don't know if it is because they are trying to keep me local cause I want to or what... Really you make that much pulling dry van...

Because individual tax rates & credit profiles vary so widely, I believe EBITA is a more useful measure.
